Latest political activity from Spain

Last weekends there were different commemoration ceremonies in Madrid, Spain, you can see our brief reports below:

First one was the 10-02-12 in the Cemetery of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena.

10 of February is the anniversary of the battle of Krasny Bor in 1943 in the Eastern front, in which took part the 250th Spanish Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht, known as Blue Division. During this battle almost 3.645 Spanish soldiers were killed and 300 were missing or taken prisoner (a 75% casualty rate). In the soviet side the losses were around 10.000 soldiers. The Blue Division was awarded a Combat Service Medal, personally designed by Adolf Hitler, for its defence of Army Group North's precarious eastern flank.

In commemoration of this event, all 10th of February, ex-divisionaries, widows, relatives and fiends join together to remember this Spanish soldiers died for fighting against communism and for a better Europe, in the tomb and monument dedicated to the Blue Division in the Cemetery of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena.

This year the traditional floral offering in the monument of the Legion Condor could not be made as the monument was vandalized with graffiti by the reds the day before. Also the Monument of the Blue Division was in part vandalized.

The rest of traditional several floral offering were made: In the tomb of the Fallen of the “Barracks of the Mountain” that died defending this position for the Nationalists in the first days of the Civil war; and in the tomb of General José Millán-Astray the founder of the Spanish Legion.

After the ceremony the "Hermandad de la Division Azul" (Brotherhood of the Blue Division invited the assistant to a glass of Spanish wine in their offices, that are also in part a Museum of the Blue Division.

Three hours after that event there was another ceremony, organized by the political party “La Falange” to commemorate the assassination the 9th of February of 1934 of Matias Montero, in the place where he was killed.

Matias Montero was a young Falangist universitary student that was involved in the selling of the newspaper of Falange Española de las JONS. Due the the boycott against this newspaper the Falangist militants had to sell the newspapers directly in the streets, suffering many attacks by the reds. Matias Montero, after a newspaper selling, returned by night to his home, where 2 socialist that were waiting for him shot and killed him.

For this reason all the years a commemoration is made to remember this victim of red terror.

The 11-02-12 there was a ceremony in the Cemetery of Carabanchel, in the tomb of General Agustin Muñoz Grandes, organized by the political party Alianza Nacional.

Agustín Muñoz Grandes was the first commander of the Blue Division between 1941 and 1943, and after the war he was vice-president of the Spanish Government and Minister with Francisco Franco several times. After his service with the Blue Division he was decorated by Adolf Hitler himself with the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.

This ceremony was organized to remember all the Spanish soldiers died in the battle of Krasny Bor and all the fallen and persons still alive of the Blue Division.

At the same hour there was other ceremony in the Cemetery of Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, organized by the Juventud Patriota de Madrid (Madrid’s Patriotic Youth), in the “Day of the fallen for Europe”, a commemoration in the memory of the fallen in the battle of Krasny Bor (Russia), Dresden Bombings (Germany), the Massacre of the Foibe (Italian population killed by Tito partisans in the territories of Istria, Venezia Giulia and Dalmazia) and all the comrades fallen during the months of January and February across Europe.

Honour to all the fallen in the defence of Spain and Europe.

On 21-02-12 the political party MSR participated “spontaneously” in the official Carnival parade organized by the Madrid City Council, showing a banner that stated “Markets dictatorship disguised as Democracy” receiving the support of many of the assistants.

There was a short march with flags from the entrance of the cemetery, a silence minute was held in memory of a good young comrade fallen last November, and then two speeches were made, one about the example of the Blue Division troops for our today political battle.
