German heroes remembered

On 07/17/2012 at Saaleck village, near the homonymous castle nationalists honored the memory of two German heroes turned into martyrs. Herman Fisher and Erwin Kern were German soldiers from First World War , after which its aim was to eliminate Zionist  leader in Germany and country’s foreign minister - Jew Walther Rathenau. Attack was made on the morning of 07.17.1922 in Berlin- in Chicago gangster’s style - fast car, good driver and rapid shooting automatic guns. After the task is done, their plan to escape to Sweden failed and they were forced to go back inside Germany, their comrade gave them a shelter in the Saaleck castle. Because of betrayal police found them, Kern was immediately shot, Fischer covers his body with a Swastika battle flag and committed suicide to avoid falling into the hands of police. Years later, they become martyrs for the NSDAP. At their grave was erected a large memorial stone.

The old tombstone

In the years after World War II in Eastern Germany, the communist government has no problem with the monument, but after the democracy and things have changed and in year of 2000 the large tombstone was destroyed after an insistence of the local church. This did not stop hundreds of NS comrades to gather, every year on the date of their murder to pay homage to the fallen heroes. This happened this year as well, although police were breakaway the area within a radius of 25km, thereby blocking the flow of tourists to the castle. The surprise this year was a new tombstone that nationalists placed the night before. This caused an unexpected media attention and numerous reports on television and coverage in local newspapers.
